Puppy Updates (3/5/12)

• Kyra was dropped for her fear issues .  She has been adopted by a wonderful family!

• Trinka was also CC'ed after being in Phase 8 for the past couple of weeks. :( She developed a love for squirrels, birds, and other dogs.  She has been adopted by her raising family and will be big sister to Amara! :)  

•  Our leader (who had Kyra) was supposed to get a puppy on the March truck (that was yesterday), is actually waiting until the April truck as there is a possibility for a golden puppy!

• We welcomed Gia (a yellow lab) to our club back on the 15th of February! She is 5 months old and was born 9/28/11 to Jenkins and Favor.  I will try and get some pictures of her soon.

Puppy Updates (2/9/12)

• Trinka is in Phase 8 (the final phase) this week! Needless to say, we can't wait to get the call that she is in class and has been matched with the perfect partner! :)

• Kyra is being transferred to another club to finish out her training. The hope is that a new raiser and environment will help her outgrow her fear problems

• Since Kyra is being transferred, our leader will be getting a new puppy in March! :)  (Yes, this will make the third new puppy in our club in the past few months). 

 

Holy Cow, two posts in one day? :)  I just had to share that Trinka skipped over Phase 6 and is in Phase 7 this week.

Puppy Updates (12/15/11)

• Trinka is in Phase 1 this week!

•   Kirsten has been career changed for behavior problems and is back down in Oregon waiting for her forever home.

• Cadence is finally going to be going to the Seattle club.  She went into season and was down at the Oregon campus and just came back this past weekend.  

•  I haven't puppy-sat in awhile and FINALLY had the chance to take Valeria to work with me for the day.  She is a sweet little thing  that is really easy going but loves the dirt from mole hills (she is a little bit of a garbage mouth).

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year! :) My sister is getting married this weekend so we have family coming into town and then it's Christmas and New Years.  It seems like this year has flown by and I'm looking forward to what next year has in store. 

Puppy Updates

• Trinka will not become a breeder because her teeth were slightly crooked. (I don't know why, but I find this kind of funny).  She will be placed into the next string for formal harness training.
• We welcomed transfer Valeria (a 5 month old black lab) from Guide Puppies of Seattle.  If you click on the link, there is a picture of her cute face.
• Kyra and Kirsten are still doing well.
• Our club Christmas banquet is this weekend so hopefully I can get some updated pictures!

Puppy Updates

• Cadence is being transferred to the Seattle club next week

Three Things

Three Things:

1. Simba was career changed for barking. :/  He went back to the family that started him and they are so happy to have him back!
2. Trinka will be heading back next month as a potential breeder! Hopefully she makes it! :)
3. At our last meeting, we welcomed Kirsten who is a one year old female black lab that was transferred to our club.

Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze

The first of October our club (along with two other clubs) participated in our annual pumpkin patch and corn maze outing. My husband and I happened to win for the second year in a row!  I mainly attribute that to Kelli (the leader of one of the other clubs) amazing sense of corn maze map reading. We had Simba for the day which is a brother of the famous chocolate lab Snickers! Simba was transferred to our club and he's a BIG dog. As in I don't remember the last time we had a dog that big in our club. He's just really tall and STRONG. I was able to get pictures of all the dogs in our club though truth be told, some cooperated a little bit better than the others. :) Here they are in no particular order:

We also got a new transfer dog to our club, but I won't have any information till our club meeting tomorrow.  Also, Trinka is on breeder watch and will probably be heading back next month.  I will leave you with this picture of Simba.  He was totally worn out so  he was laying on his bed and I was taking a little nap on the couch.  I woke up to this and was trying really hard not to laugh...HI SIMBA! :)

I realized I never posted anything about Trinka and to be honest, there really wasn't much to post! I took only one picture as she was with us less than 12 hours. Here is the only one I got:

In other news, Valentino from our club is going back on the April truck to begin his formal training. Marlin is still hanging out in Phase 8 waiting for his partner. Also, the second weekend in April we will have Joanne (which I'm really looking forward to). She is such a sweet thing! I can't believe her time is shortly approaching for her to head back also.

Veterans Day Parade

The past three years I have been involved with Guide Dogs for the Blind, our club has either watched or participated in the local Veterans Day Parade. Part of the reason GDB was started was to help those who were returning from World War II without their sight. This year we were undercover and were able to sit unlike last year. One of the pictures from last year is Marlin who happens to be in the GDB calendar in July. :) We had Calico with us that weekend and had forgot her halti at home (bad news bears). I have never seen a dog that can use her sniffer as much as she can! Overall, the dogs did really great considering their age and all the loud firetrucks, music, and motorcycles.

I've been back about 2-1/2 weeks from Europe and am looking to get back into the swing of things around here. There is a lot of updating to be had so grab some hot chocolate, your favorite chair, and here goes nothing.

Jessa:
As of my last update, everything was kind of up in the air with Jessa. She will be adopted back by the grandmother of the girl who raised her (that way the family can all see her). I believe they are going to be getting her back sometime this month.

Also, congrats to Joyful (one of Jessa's sisters) who is now a working guide in Louisiana!

Marlin:
It looks like this guy will be heading back sometime before the end of the year. I'm hoping to have him a few more times before he heads back for formal training.

NEW PUPPY:
Miss "T" arrived while I was gone. :( I was able to meet her at our club Pumpkin Patch Outing (more on that later). She is a sweet little thing and I'm hoping to get to spend some time with her also. Without further ado, let me introduce to you the newest member of our club:

Pumpkin Patch/Corn Maze:
For the past couple of years, we have going to the corn maze/pumpkin patch with another club in our area. We are friends with the leader's of the other club so it's always fun to see them. I really didn't get a lot of pictures (even though we were puppy-sitting Marlin for the day). The only good one I got was of Guinness. He was such a cute little puppy! He has grown to be quite the handsome fellow now:
